Valencia, Spain – The 2025 season started in great style for Max Lanza and Roberto Benedetti, with three podium finishes out of four races during the opening round of the NASCAR Euro Series, held at the Valencia circuit. The #88 Chevrolet Camaro immediately showed strong pace, allowing both drivers to battle for top positions in their respective trophy standings.
Lanza wasted no time in showcasing his potential, setting the second-fastest time in the Challenger Trophy during the free practice session that officially kicked off the 2025 season. He confirmed his performance with third place in qualifying. Despite a technical issue followed by a small fire relegating him to fourth place in Race 1, the Roman driver secured his first podium of the year in Sunday’s race. “We ended the weekend in the best possible way and we want to carry this momentum into the next round in Vallelunga. We’ve been fast since free practice and I quickly adapted to the changes on my Camaro. With the new sequential gearbox, the car now has an even more racing-like behavior,” said Max Lanza, who now sits fourth in the Challenger Trophy standings in the PRO Division. “The third place in Race 2 was the best gift I could give to everyone who believes in me and to the CAAL Racing team, after a challenging weekend. But now, our focus is already on Vallelunga – our home race. In front of our fans, we have to be practically perfect!”
Roberto Benedetti, back on track after a long injury layoff last year, proved he is back in top form, setting strong lap times from the free practice sessions. Fourth in qualifying, Benedetti was one of the standout drivers in the Legend Trophy, claiming two third-place finishes and breaking into the overall Top 10 on Sunday. These results put him tenth in the overall standings and third among the Legend Trophy contenders.
The next round of the NASCAR Euro Series is set to take place at Vallelunga, the home race for the #88 Camaro drivers, during the weekend of May 17–18.
