Campagnano di Roma, Roma – The Italian round of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series smiled on Max Lanza and Roberto Benedetti, both authors of two excellent performances that allowed them to get on the podium at their home circuit in Vallelunga. Max Lanza took second place in the Challenger Trophy on Saturday, while Benedetti won Race 1 in the Legend Trophy, also taking the lead in the trophy classification.

Alternating fortunes have characterized the weekend of Max Lanza on his home track, the Roman driver was not always able to show his best performance, but by wisely leveraging his great experience he managed to maximize the result in the race. Thus, after a qualifying wherehe could not do better than the ninth row, the driver of the #88 Camaro made up for it in Race 1 and, thanks to a shrewd and intelligent conduct, brought home a valuable second place in the Challenger Trophy. “Racing in front of such a crowd is simply magnificent! Vallelunga is always special and for me who was born just a stone’s throw away it is even more so! There were so many friends, supporters, partners and everyone on the track who believe in my racing dream. To be able to share the joy of the podium with them is simply unparalleled!” commented Max Lanza, now second with 8 points gap from the lead in the Over 40 aged drivers dedicate trophy “I would have liked to give everyone who came to the track maybe a better result but I didn’t want to risk it and thought about the championship. The season is still long and every point counts.”

In EuroNASCAR 2, Roberto Benedetti experienced a weekend as a true protagonist. After the Top5 signed in free practice, the gentleman driver confirmed his excellent form with the fourth row in qualifying and a full attack race. Thus came a spectacular victory in the Legend Trophy in Saturday’s heat, thanks to eighth overall, and above all the leadership in the Trophy standings. Benedetti’s weekend could have been even better,thanks to a commanding start in Race 2 with several overtakes that brought the #88 Camaro up to third overall. Only a gearbox problem stopped the ride of the Roman driver, who was forced to say goodbye to the company prematurely.

The whole show of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series now moves to England, to the Brands Hatch track, the scene of the third round of the season always inserted in the context of the spectacular American Speed Fest, which every year gathers more than 50 thousand fans at the track.
