Valencia, Spain – It has been a great start of the season for Max Lanza‘, who achieved an excellent Top10 in the second race of the first round of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, hosted in Valencia. The Rome-native driver confirmed himself as a one of the biggest protagonist also in the Challenger Trophy, thanks to two solid second places in both races. In the EuroNASCAR 2 division Roberto Benetti won the silver and the bronze medals in the Legend Trophy.
Max Lanza’s weekend went definitely to a crescendo. After some issues in the free practice sessions and a not perfect lap in qualifying, the #88 Chevrolet Camaro driver gave his best into the two races. “What a weekend! I survived the big one at the start of Race 2, I really don’t know where I passed through but I did it! You couldn’t see anything and there was debris everywhere, we were good and lucky in that moment. But the best was yet to come! On Saturday’s race I felt good, we recovered some positions and we stopped at the edge of the Top10.” commented Lanza, who now is 12th in the standings, just one point from the tenth place, while in the Challenger Trophy he is firmly second. “In Race 2 it went even better and, in front of an audience like this, it takes on even more meaning. The ninth position under the checkered flag is an excellent result which makes me confident for the rest of the season. I’m definitely aiming for the Challenger Trophy, here in Valencia we climbed to the second step of the podium twice. But we never forget the overall classification.”
In EuroNASCAR 2, Roberto Benedetti was constantly one of the fastest guy of the Legend Trophy, with positive results also in the general ranking, thanks to a ninth and tenth position under the checkered flag. “We were fast and concrete throughout the weekend, constantly in the Top10 and, with a little bit of more luck, we could have brought home a little better result. I’m very satisfied, the car was very fast,CAAL Racing guys did once again an excellent job.” commented Benedetti, ninth in the general ranking and second among the Legend Trophy after the Spanish round.
The next round of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is scheduled in Italy, at Autodromo di Vallelunga, home track both for Lanza and Benedetti.
