Oschersleben, Germania – It was a challenging weekend for Max Lanza in Germany, stage of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series SemiFinals. The Roman driver responded to difficult qualifying by securing a podium finish in the Challenger Trophy in Race 1, but in the second race he was forced to stop after just a few meters. His chances of winning the category title remain intact, with 13 points to recover and a total of 172 up for grabs!

After encouraging free practice sessions, with the #88 Camaro immediately playing a leading role in the Challenger Trophy, but traffic in qualifying prevented Lanza from showing his true potential. “It was a shame because we could have been much further ahead. We’ve always struggled on this track, but we still found a good balance for this weekend,” commented Lanza, who quickly redeemed himself in the first race. “On Saturday, we take the maximum from the race, stepping onto the podium in the Challenger Trophy and keeping our competitors in check. We would have kept the lead in the standings on Sunday as well, managing our advantage. Unfortunately, contact at the first corner sent me violently into the wall, and the race ended there. We lost all our advantage and now have to recover 13 points, but I’m not worried: with double points, we’re still perfectly in the contention. There’s no room for error at Zolder. The dream continues!”

On the Oschersleben track, Roberto Benedetti also made a return after the injury he suffered at Brands Hatch. The Roman driver completed a few laps during the Club Challenge sessions, with positive signs regarding his recovery, although it is not yet fully complete.

The grand finale of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is scheduled to take place at the Belgian track of Zolder, which will host the 2024 Finals on the upcoming 12th and 13th of October.
